Lava sand is rich in minerals, provides aeration, and helps soil retain the right balance of moisture. The porous texture of lava sand helps make soil nutrients more available to plant roots and encourages fruit bearing plants, such as tomatoes, to produce more and better fruit. Lava sand can be used as a beautiful red ground cover, to top planters, layered in terrariums, and mixed with soil or other planting mediums.
Adding just 10% of lava sand to your soil or potting mixture is more effective than vermiculite. For most purposes, add 10%-30% Lava Sand to soil, and 50%-70% for succulents and cacti. Lava Sand can be used for:
